Tuesday, June 28, 2011 CANADA DAY 2011 Special pullout section 4 Pages O Canada! It's time to party locally Halton Hills is gearing up to celebrate Canada's 144th birthday on Friday, July 1. Celebrate Canada Day in Glen Williams, Acton, and Norval. Glen Williams will be hosting its annual festivities during the day, including the ever-popular Canada Day Parade at noon, plus ball games, seniors' strawberry tea, Halton Hills Fire Department demonstrations, historical walking tours, children's games, outdoor concert and much more. The day will close out with the annual Duck Race on the Credit starting at 4 p.m. Be sure to drop by the Rotary Club of Georgetown's hot dog and burger tent at the Glen Canada Day celebrations. Proceeds to the Georgetown Bread Basket. And bring your kids and drop by to meet the people of the St. John's United Church at their fish pond in the Glen Williams Ballpark-- just one of many things to enjoy at the Canada Day Celebrations in the Glen. Then head over to Acton when the Canada Day Concert in the Park in Prospect Park starts at 5 p.m. with a children's bicycle parade. Hey kids, decorate your bike and join the parade because lots of prizes will be awarded. The concert starts at 6 p.m. featuring local entertainment. Then sit back in your BYOLC (bring your own lawn chair) and enjoy the Acton Firefighters Association's annual fireworks display at dusk. For more information check out www.downtownacton.ca. Eva Melancon, 9, of Georgetown thought the Canada Day celebration in Glen Williams last year was the cat's meow.
