BELOW: ALS has affected many local families, including the ones pictured below. The Matthews clan Doug, Jaime, Kenzie, Jack and Abby and friend Jordie Martin have been working hard all year to raise money for the Walk for ALS. Awful weather may have caused organizers to cancel the walk part of the event, but it couldn't put a damper on the spirits of the hundreds of people who crammed themselves into the Gellert Centre lobby for the third annual Walk for ALS on June 4. Severe thunderstorms made their way through the area on the morning of the event, forcing organizers to call off the five-kilometre walk. Despite the terrible weather, many participants still showed up to hand in their money and buy raffle tickets, candy kabobs and Walk for ALS-themed items. Over the last three years, the Acton/Georgetown Walk for ALS has raised more than $500,000, including the $155,000 raised this year. Bravo!
