((#3 Sunny skies smiled down on the students at Halton Hills Christian School on June 17 as they headed outside for the school's annual Play Day. All of the students from the junior kindergarteners all the way up to the grade 8's were divided into 18 teams and competed in a variety of fun activities, from potato-and-spoon races to three-legged races to Frisbee tosses. Midway through the day, the kid fuelled up on pizza and candy before heading back outside for more running, tossing, jumping and playing. Hundreds of Halton Hills residents brought tents, snacks and crazy costumes to the Croatian Centre on a warm June evening as they stayed up all night for the Canadian Cancer Society Relay for Life. At the 12-hour event, which ran June 3 and 4, team members took turns walking around a track to celebrate cancer survivors, remember those who died from the disease and, most importantly, to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society. The Relay included lots of food, games, entertainment and demonstrations to keep the walkers awake and energized throughout the night. This year's event raised a record total of $114,330.
