Fire calls: Man trapped under tree in Acton Jessica Tarka tops at CtK A man was trapped underneath a tree that had fallen on him at a trailer park on Dublin Line during the storm Saturday about 9:30 p.m. Halton Hills firefighters, police and EMS responded to the incident. The man suffered minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Georgetown Hospital. *** Firefighters were called to a Fifth Line Limehouse residence last Wednesday at about noon because a tree was smoldering. The cause was a hydro wire stuck resting on the tree. Fire crews stood by until Halton Hills Hydro staff arrived to fix the problem. *** Halton Hills firefighters were called to a natural gas leak on Winston Churchill Blvd. about 7:50 a.m. Friday. A tractor had struck the gas valve. Fire crews shut off the valve stopping the leak. Union Gas responded. *** Firefighters were called to a residence on Argyll Rd. about 11 a.m. Sunday for a vehicle fire. The vehicle was fully involved when crews arrived and extinguished the blaze. Halton Catholic District School Board has announced Jessica Tarka at Christ the King School is a Governor General Bronze Medal recipient. The medal is awarded to the student graduating with the highest average from high school. Tarka had a 93.93%-- fifth of the eight Halton Catholic high schools. The highest average went to Matthew Krzysztof Buraczynksi of Holy Trinity (97.13%).
