Smiling is contagious - you catch it like the flu; when someone smiled at me today, I started smiling too. I passed around the corner, and someone saw my grin; when he smiled, I realized I had passed it on to him. I thought about that smile, then I realized its worth; a single smile, just like mine could travel round the earth. So, if you feel a smile begin, don't leave it undetected, let it start an epidemic quick, and get the world infected! SMILE a while! Give your frown a rest! A SMILE costs nothing, but gives much. It enriches those who receive, without making poorer those who give. It takes but a moment, but the memory lasts forever. None is so rich or mighty that he can get along without it, and no one is so poor but that he can't be made rich by it. If your smile needs a turn up, give us a call today!! Plant pot recycling program blooming Gardening just got greener. Halton Region has diverted about 1.5 tonnes of plastic plant pots and trays from the landfill through a new recycling pilot project launched early this summer. Plastic pots and trays are currently not accepted in the Region's Blue Box program because the plastic is difficult to process with the other acceptable materials, but they can be recycled if they are collected separately and dropped off, free of charge, at the Halton Region Waste Management site on Regional Road 25. Plant pots and trays must be separated based on the plastic identification number (2, 5, 6) listed inside the recycling triangle on the bottom of the pot or tray. Separated containers can be placed into the appropriate bins at the Region's landfill site. All of the plant pots and trays collected during this pilot program will be recycled in Ontario and made into new plastic products. Along with the Halton Waste Management Site, some local garden centres are also taking back plant pots and trays. Residents are asked to check with the retailer before dropping off materials. A listing of garden centres taking back plant pots and trays can be found in Halton's Take It Back! online directory at www.halton. ca/waste. Residents can continue to drop off their plastic plant pots and trays until October 31. 2011 Winners Georgetown District High School School Council and The Rebels Swim Team Congratulate the winners of this year's Duck Race! 1st Place Patsy Waskalik (00909) 2nd Place Brian Cooper (02261) 3rd Place Dave Huras (01277) 4th Place Marilyn Schneider (00279) 5th Place Heather Bailey (01092) 6th Place Louise Brown (02590) 7th Place Anne Marie Bell-Allan (01352) 8th Place Sandy Reice (00912) 9th Place John Aubin (02113) 10th Place Sharon Thomson (00900) 11th Place Marcy Carlo (02238) 12th Place Michel Cormier (03382) 13th Place Ian Munro (01247) 14th Place Nancy Savasta (02604) 15th Place Tom Massena (02076) Alexander Trenton, DD, F.C.A.D. Lend Me Your Ears Congratulations Jacqueline Bradshaw & Jesse Thomas on your wedding May 14, 2011. Our family is very happy for you both. Much Love Gramma (Merle Carr) and your late Grampa (Dennis R. Carr) A diminished social life is one of the most difficult aspects of age related hearing loss. Many people avoid drawing attention to their hearing loss by having fewer social contracts when it becomes difficult understanding what is being said. The result is an altered and lonely existence that family and friends may mistake for dementia. Learning new strategies to cope with hearing loss could go a long way to restoring confidence and improving communication. The Hearing Clinic recommends the following: Inform people of the hearing loss so they may modify their speech; eliminate background noise; watch the speaker carefully and sharpen natural lip-reading abilities; ask the speaker to repeat what was said if necessary, and above all else; have your hearing thoroughly tested and properly fit with one of today's modern hearing instruments. Contact The Hearing Clinic if you or someone you know needs assistance. The Georgetown Suffering from Depression, Grief, Anxiety? Georgetown family counsellor wants to help.
