Anyone with additional questions, ideas and concerns they think will help the YNS are asked to email the Town at youth@ haltonhills.ca and the input will be passed on to the consulting team doing the study. Also, to connect with the YNS go to www. haltonhills.ca/youth. The Town is focusing on five key areas in the study including youth engagement, youth-friendly education and training, access, dedicated youth space and connecting services. The Town has already conducted focus groups with several youths in town and in the fall will be holding public open houses where the draft study and proposed recommendations will be outlined. Last October the Town was recognized as a Youth Friendly Community by the Province. The Town earned the distinction by measuring up to the provincial standard for being designated "youth friendly." The recognition is for the great work Halton Hills is doing in ensuring youth (ages 13-19) have continuous access to a diversity of `play' (play being anything a young person does in his/her free time which could include: sport, recreation, drama, dance, music, the arts, volunteerism, leadership development, service leadership and/or civic engagement). "It's a great testimony to know that so many of the initiatives council has supported over the past few terms around youth engagement have been right on the mark, and I'm particularly proud of the efforts of the Youth Action Committee," said Halton Hills Mayor Rick Bonnette. The Youth Friendly Recognition Award means that the Town can use the `Youth Friendly" designation that is the trademark of Play Works-- a partnership for active and engaged youth, in all its promotional effort. This in turn serves as a welcome sign for other youth to become increasingly more involved in community and civic matters. 2012 2009 GBA GBA Registration SEASON COACHING APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN Georgetown Baseball is now accepting Rep-Eagles/Select coaching applications for the This year registration will 2012 season. take place online only at: Please go to www.georgetownbaseball.ca www.georgetownbaseball.ca to complete and submit your application.
