Local girl, 8, gets wish to be an officer for a day By LISA TALLYN Staff Writer Local girl Kathryn Stewart recently had the chance to give policing a try when she was Police Officer for a Day during Police Day at Halton Regional Police headquarters. Kathryn got the opportunity through a wish granted through The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada and Halton Regional Police Service. The eight-year-old Georgetown girl was diagnosed with neuroblastoma in 2008 and was cancer-free following treatment until last September when the cancer recurred. She has been undergoing chemotherapy treatments ever since. Her mom Heather said treatments are going well, and Kathryn is "coping very well." Heather said her daughter "jumped" at the chance to be Police Officer for a Day. "She loved being involved, being active and doing fun things. So this was perfect for her," said Heather.
