14 Independent & Free Press,Thursday, July 21, 2011 Big news will have to wait Vacations Made You Feel Guilty About Leaving Mom Alone By FLORENCE RIEHL Georgetown Seniors Centre I know you are anxiously waiting to hear what the important information is that I said I would share with you. Sorry! I have been asked to keep it under wraps for a while so my lips are sealed and my hands tied. It is still to come! It is necessary for the two Centres, Acton and Georgetown to go through an accreditation process in order to continue to receive funding from the Province. This is to be completed by September 2013. Information regarding the accreditation process is available in the HillsView. We now have an updated logo (see above). This logo for the Seniors' Centres reflects the importance of older adults in our community. At the centre of the logo is a tree sapling representing growth and development. A mature tree encompasses the sapling, representing strength, knowledge, and leadership. The harmony of the two trees reflects partnership, adapting, changing and growing together. Sometimes it seems rather quiet around the Centre but lots of planning is taking place for the new season. Friday, July 22 is Toonie Movie afternoon. The movie is Dilemma, starring Vince Vaughn and Kevin James. Movie starts at 1 p.m. but why not come at noon and enjoy a beef a bun for $3? The man you see working around the Centre is our new maintenance man, Maurice. Take a minute to say hi. There are two travel sign-up sheets on the travel desk for your attention. One is for a trip on the Credit Valley Explorer Train on Sept. 21. We will be having a roast beef dinner as we travel through the Credit River Valley. The other is to the Shaw Festival Theatre to see The Admirable Crichton on October 28. Please call Florence at 905-873-1210 for further information. Stay safe. Stay tuned for the news! This year you left, but she's not alone om looks forward to your daily conversations and feels more secure knowing that you're just a phone call away. So, when you're on vacation, she feels uneasy and so do you.
