Born in Belledune, New Brunswick to Ethel and Daniel Culligan. Berniece was married to the late James Doucett on November 23, 1953. She lived in Georgetown for over 54 years raising her family and working at the Georgetown and Acton Post Offices for over 30 years. She was a member of Holy Cross Parish and the CWL. She loved to sing in the choir and help out where she was needed. She was a commissioned officer in the 8th Belfast Company and the South Antrim Battalion of the Girls Life Brigade and had a long association with the Eastern Star. All who knew Ellen will remember her, unwavering Christian faith, her beautiful singing voice, her sense of humour, her drive to do things "her way" and her endless, wonderful stories, especially about WW2. Ellen's family would like to acknowledge the loving care that she received at the Bennett Healthcare Centre in Georgetown. It appeared that the staff adopted our mom as their own which made it much easier for Ellen and her family through the months of her declining health. He loved to fly and had his private pilot's license and had many harrowing experiences which he loved to share. He loved to travel and explore many different cultures and countries around the world. He enjoyed his home on the Muskoka River where he could canoe, and watch all the boating activities and neighbors. There was nothing that he could not fix, but he would never admit to all his talents. He dearly loved all his grandchildren and beamed with pleasure any time that he spent with them. He had a very dry sense of humor, and thoroughly enjoyed the laughter that followed but never ever allowed himself to have a good belly laugh, he just liked to smirk. His relationship with THE ALMIGHTY was very private but genuine. He will be missed by all his family friends and neighbors.
