That also means a busy time for the Georgetown Seniors Centre. The HillsView for September and October is available for pickup at Reception. Find out what is going on and what is coming up. This is an important communication source to our members but only if you take the time to read it. The week of September 12-13 is Open House Week. Something every day to tweak your interest. There are a number of new activities and you are invited to come and try them out. The following is a list of activities: · Monday, Sept. 12-- 9 a.m., Qi Gong, Carpet Bowling, Woodcarving; 12 noon, New Member Tea (invitation only); 1 p.m., Bid Euchre, Computer Q&A · Tuesday, Sept. 13-- 9 a.m., crafts; 10 a.m. Great Canadian Tour Rep and Collette Vacations Rep; 12 noon, Open House BBQ; 1 p.m., Bridge; 1:30 p.m., TRY IT - Tap dance the Basics SENIORS LIFESTYLES Drop in to Open House Week Acton Seniors Centre GST Auction is important fundraiser By JULIE CONROY Acton Seniors Centre We have received some wonderful items for the GST (Goods, Services and Talents) Auction on Sept. 10, including a weekend Get Away Bag, filled with body care items from Mary Kay, two dinner tickets for Mohawk or Woodbine (your choice of venue), passes for four people to golf at Golf North's Acton course, two cases of six Chudleigh's pies or Apple Blossoms, a lovely baby quilt and a lap blanket. Sony has donated a personal Internet viewer, Panasonic, a cordless phone and the Hide House, a beautiful leather handbag plus many vouchers from the various businesses in town. As you can tell gifts are worth coming to the Auction and bidding on. · Wednesday, Sept. 14-- 9 a.m., TRY IT - Dance Fitness; 10 a.m., TRY ITGentle Yoga, Mingle and chat; 1 p.m., Euchre, Social Bridge, Art Club · Friday, Sept. 16-- 9 a.m., Carpet Bowling, Crafts; 10 a.m. Falls Prevention; 1 p.m. Duplicate Bridge. A correction re the date of the Reception Volunteer workshop. It is to be held on Tuesday, Sept. 6 at 10 a.m. Bennett Healthcare Centre is coming to the Centre on Thursday, Sept. 14 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and holding a focus group on a Continuing Care project from Self Care to Long Term Care. Everyone welcome to participate. Tickets are now available for the Justus concert to be held by your Centre at the Alliance Church on Sunday, October 16, at 3 p.m. Your $15 ticket includes show and refreshments. All proceeds benefit your Georgetown Centre. Signup sheet is out for those interested in going to Niagara-on-the-lake to the Shaw Festival Theatre to see The Admirable Crichton following lunch at the Prince of Wales Hotel. Lots to do! If you have a talent or service you would like to donate that is suitable for someone to bid on, please get in touch with the Centre, 519-853-5951 and leave a message for Sylvia. The GST auction in the Acton Arena Community Hall on Queen St. (Hwy 7) will be held between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. with the preview between 11 a.m. and noon and the auction beginning at 12 noon. Cash or cheque payments only. Lunch is available. All proceeds will benefit the Centre. We also have two great social events happening in September. The social dinner on Sept. 6 with Swiss Chalet chicken and Juke Box for entertainment and the Acton and Georgetown Dance at the Acton Legion on Friday, Sept. 23.
