However the Scouts are probably best known for Apple Day, where the kids go out into the community to sell fresh apples in an effort to raise money for their troops. Beyond the camping and the community involvement, scouting, at its very core, is all about the people. "The biggest thing is to come out and have some fun and learn about yourself," says Reinhardt. For Henderson, it's all about the friendships. "I make a new bunch of friends every year. I don't know the kids or the parents when they sign up for Cubs or Beavers but I get to know them," he says. "Twenty-five or 30 years later, I see them and say, `Hi, I remember you.
