There were lots of volunteers that served over 500 breakfasts to fairgoers. Following the breakfast Legion members marched in the Fall Fair parade, led by the Legion colour party. The flags flew proudly in a gentle breeze. Legion members followed the Colour Party, then the Acton Citizens' Band and an array of dignitaries and floats. Our branch was well represented at the horseshoe pits at the fairgrounds. The team of Keith and Dave Andrews were first place winners. Mark and Amy Newman were third. Great job to all of the Legion players. At 5 p.m. Bad Weather band performed on the patio lots of great tunes, dancing and singing. The barbecue was good; the line ups were long just to get a hamburger and delicious sweet corn. On Sept. 18 the Legion horseshoes had their last tournament of the season. The players hope to see you next year to cheer them on. On Sept. 25 the branch will be hosting the Zone horseshoes. Acton and Georgetown will be continuing their friendly neighbour rivalry. Come out and cheer on your favorite team. On Oct. 7 the Tim Hicks band will be playing so come on out and enjoy some live entertainment.
