On top of the room's makeover-- courtesy of a wish granted by Make-A-Wish Canada-- Sean Clarke was also surprised with a visit from Star Wars characters Darth Vader and two Stormtroopers who greeted him, his little brother Ryan and dad Jim when they arrived home from a visit to the Ontario Science Centre. The visit to the Centre in a limousine was also arranged by Make-A-Wish Canada. Sean, who was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome and underwent a heart transplant at five months of age, got the idea for the Star Wars-themed room after seeing the walls of Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children when he was there for a routine visit. An avid Star Wars fan, Sean's favourite thing to do is move around the house like the characters and act out different scenes from the movie. His room has been decorated like a Star Wars spaceship with characters Anakin, Yoda and Darth Vader painted on the walls. Sean was pleased with his new room, calling it "good" and he enjoyed meeting the Star Wars characters. "Watching the imagination, amazement and wonder of a young child reminds you of what being a child is all about," said Sean's mom Suzanne. "Seeing the excitement in Sean's eyes and whole body as he talks about his room fills both his father, Jim and I with a joy that words cannot describe. "It was so amazing what Make-A-Wish Canada did, and with their partners," added Suzanne. She said Sean, who is doing very well and is a Grade 1 student at Halton Hills Christian School, is enjoying the room, the computer, the artwork and posters. The Star Wars characters were provided courtesy of volunteers from the 501st Legion, an international fan-based organization dedicated to the construction and wearing of screen-accurate replicas of Star Wars characters, who also made a cheque presentation of $15,000 to Make-A-Wish to help support more wishes like Sean's. Make-A-Wish gave special thanks to the 501st Legion, wish granting volunteers and corporate sponsors such as Ikea Canada, Sony and Deker Electric for their support and contributions to the room makeover.
