UCHS Pet of the Month Sadly, Conan now waits alone By JUDITH-ANNE KOLU Upper Credit Humane Society volunteer Hello! This is Conan again, I am the Blue Heeler/Australian cattle dog cross, seven years young and Lilly and I were desperate for a home together. We had been surrendered because our single parent had a life change, and his new "kennel" had no room for us. Well it happened... Lilly was taken away from me... first they put us in separate kennels to prepare us for what was going to happen, but that made us really anxious as we could hear each other and we would bark and she was as bewildered as I. Then the day came and there was no more barking, I could not hear her voice... she was gone... for the first time ever I was alone. I love Lilly and I am happy for her but although I am brave and manly when the caregivers give me attention and I play outside, alone in my pod I feel stressed and unhappy. I am such a good boy marked by the caregivers as "well behaved". I have had consistent training, enjoy car rides, have been crated in the past, do NOT recline FALL IN LOVE WITH GREENWAY RETIREMENT VILLAGE 27 Independent & Free Press, Thursday, September 29, 2011 on furniture and have always been an indoor dog. Above all, I LOVE people and will play as much as the opportunity presents itself... as I am excellent at playing fetch... and pride myself on my gentleness. Additionally, I am housebroken, fine with children, cats and most dogs, and leash walking is a breeze. I am also good off leash and display medium energy. I am very food motivated (a plump 80 lbs), I adore chewing bones whenever they are offered. A family should be understanding if I make any little errors in our early days together, I know that once a new horizon presents itself I will try hard to please and the warmth of gentle hands on my coat will reenergize my little damaged heart. Life is tough for a dog without a home and the Shelter felt it was in the best interests to at least give one of us a home! My mother taught me to look forward not backwards so I hope you will hear my plea and come and take me away too. Please take another look at my face... try not to resist... please call the Shelter at 519-833-2287 or e-mail adoptions@uppercredit.com. I will be your loving companion forever if you give me that chance! Celebrate Bruce Trail Day with OPG. Have you been thinking of retirement living?
