7 Independent & Free Press, Tuesday, October 11, 2011 Dog killed in blaze A Georgetown man who suffered smoke inhalation Thursday evening due to a fire in the basement apartment of a Prince Charles Dr. home was treated and released from Georgetown Hospital. The man, who lives in the upstairs unit of the home, was attempting to extinguish the fire and rescue a dog in the basement. The smoke turned him back however, and the dog died. The cause of the fire, under investigation by the Ontario Office of the Fire Marshal, is still undetermined. Damage is estimated at about $100,000.
