More than 60 groups on hand for Community Open House The Halton Hills Cooperative Program Planning Committee will be hosting a Community Open House on Saturday, (Oct. 15), at the Georgetown Market Place, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Over 60 organizations serving the community will be on hand to showcase their services, and share opportunities and information on how to get more involved or benefit from their services. Volunteer, try a new sport, enjoy the arts and learn about the many services available to you. The theme for the event this year is Passion, Action, Impact - Find your Passion, Take Action and Make a Lasting Impact. To help you find your passion, staff from the Employment Resource Centre in Acton will be on hand throughout the day in Centre Court providing free information on job searching and quick advice on fine tuning your resume. Mayor Rick Bonnette encourages all citizens to consider attending as "this event provides a tremendous opportunity for all members of the community to learn about the many non-profit organizations, sport and recreation groups, social service agencies, and service groups that have so much to offer Halton Hills." Among the participating groups will be North Halton Kitten Rescue; Friends of The Old Seed House Garden; 676 Lorne Scots Army Cadets; Acton Women's Ball Hockey League; Gem Health Care Services/Nordix Poles Canada; Halton Hawks; Cruiser Sports for the Physically Disabled; Halton Hills Tennis Club; TOPS(Take Off Pounds Sensibly); St. John's Ambulance; Halton Hills Concert Band.
