General Help Wanted General Help Wanted Hospital / Dental Help Wanted Hospital / Dental Help Wanted DEATHS FISHER, Roger Cameron April 3rd, 1930 - October 13th, 2011 It is with profound sadness that our family announces the passing of Roger Cameron Fisher, devoted husband of Ruth Denise Fisher (Gutzke), beloved father of Brad (Janet), Brenda Dickie (John), David, Kevin (Terri), and Doug (Shelagh), loving grandpa of Michael (Sarrah), Erin, Nathan (Jaclynn), Matthew (Sanja), Andrea (Dane), Shannon, Christina (Will), Madeline and Blythe, and proud great-grandpa of Benjamin and William. He is survived by his sister, Ardis Smith (Larry) of Listowel, and their children. Born on the family farm just outside of Listowel, Ontario, Roger attended Listowel High School, later graduating in Electronics Technology from Ryerson University. His entire professional career was with Orenda Engines in Malton where he advanced to the position of supervisor of the Engineering Labs until his retirement in 1993. His fascinating career included work on projects involving the Avro Arrow, US Navy sonar detection, Royal Canadian Navy sonar detection, wind turbine generation, weather stations, and the Pickering Nuclear Power Plant. Roger always emphasized the strength found in family and friends. He enriched his children's lives through camping, and trailering throughout North America, including trips to the east coast, EXPO 67, the west, Myrtle Beach, and a Caribbean cruise. A resident of Georgetown since 1955, he was a former Treasurer of the Knox Presbyterian Sunday School, and was an Elder of Knox Presbyterian Church. Roger played four musical instruments including the clarinet, French horn, violin and the harmonica. He was always proud of his involvement in the former Georgetown Citizens' Band. We would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at Princess Margaret Hospital and the Credit Valley Hospital Oncology Out Patient, Emergency, Acute Care and Palliative Units. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Kaiser of Credit Valley Hospital for his advice and counsel during Roger's 8 years of treatment.
