10 Independent & Free Press, Tuesday,November 15, 2011 B R I D A L E V E N T O F T H E Y E A R THE PERFECT CFUW-Georgetown to host Winter Fashions for Scholarships on Sunday On November 20, the Georgetown chapter of The Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) club is hosting a "Winter Fashions For Scholarships" event at the Eagle Ridge Golf Course at 1 p.m. This event is open to the public and tickets are available by contacting Frances, 905-877-9162 fswalker@aztec-net. com or Lisette, 905-846-3856 lisette.logan@bmo.com. Tickets are $30 and includes a light luncheon. This event is limited to 160 tickets and is 70 per cent sold so call early to avoid disappointment. Co-sponsoring this event is Cassidy Veldman and her team at Trendz Hair Studio, on Main Street in Georgetown and Mill Street in Acton, who will be preparing the models for the runway as well as donating a gift basket for the auction. Fashions are provided by Estilo of Orangeville which will also be moderating the show. As well as a fabulous raffle table of gift baskets and gift certificates, three grand raffle prizes are up for grabs: · Susan Lougheed of Royal LePage has very generously donated a Caribbean cruise · Nancy Wilkes of Acton Optical, 4 Mill Street, has donated a pair of designer sunglasses and will be providing all fashion eyeware for the models during the show · CFUW quilting group has donated a beautiful handmade quilt. CFUW Georgetown is a voluntary, self-funded, non-profit organization with clubs across the province. It is part of the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) and affiliated with the International Federation of University Women (IFUW). Its mandate is to enhance the status of women and girls, promote education and encourage the participation of members in their communities. This season, the club is celebrating 40 years in Georgetown. Every dollar of the fundraising efforts is put towards scholarships for both youth and adult learners in Halton Hills.
