Georgetown Bach Chorale to sing Handel's Messiah in four shows By CAROLE LUSBY Georgetown Bach Chorale In November and December, the Georgetown Bach Chorale will be presenting four performances of its historical approach to Handel's wonderful and tireless oratorio, Messiah. Over the past 12 years, this dynamic, vibrant ensemble has been offering highly energized renditions of Handel's most famous work. Over time, the work grew in proportion to enormous sizes with choir and orchestra expanding to hundreds, a vision of which the composer probably had never conceived. The Georgetown Bach Chorale, which has always been tighter in numbers, brings to you a period approach to Handel's wonderful score, creating a highly spirited, vocally precise, and musically aware conception. In addition to Baroque nuance and colour, 16th century phrasing and incredibly blended sound, this musical presentation will include some of Mozart's orchestration ideas to enhance this great work even more. The use of timpani and brass in choruses and arias is one noticeable feature, and who doesn't like more of these great instruments? True to Baroque style, the use of harpsichord, in fact double harpsichord in these performances, Baroque chamber organ and valveless trumpets are but some of the aspects that will delight our audiences. The four performances are: · Friday, November 18, 8 p.m., Christ Church Anglican, Brampton · Sunday, November 20, 3 p.m., St. James Anglican, Caledon East · Saturday, December 3, 8 p.m., Old Town Hall, Acton · Sunday, December 4, 2:30 p.m., St. Elias Ukrainian, Brampton Tickets are available at two locations in Georgetown: Foodstuffs and Pat's Prime Cuts & Deli, or on our website www.georgetownbachchorale.com Royal LePage Meadowtowne offers the Santa to a Senior program Support the Santa to a Senior program offered through Home Instead Senior Care and help make this Christmas a very special one for seniors in the Georgetown and Acton area who are least likely to receive a present during this holiday season.
