In Focus, December, 2011 4 Letter from In Focus Christmas isn't even here yet and I can't wait for it to be over. Wait, that didn't come out right. I love Christmas. I really do. I love the lights, I love the decorations and I love how happy everyone is around this time of year. Yay for Christmas! Ok, now that we've established that I'm not a Grinch, I'll explain what I meant by that first line. The reason I can't wait for Christmas to be over is because the day after Christmas is one of my most favourite days of the year: Boxing Day. Boxing Day shopping is a Lefebvre Family Tradition. We get up at the crack of dawn (ok, it's really around 7:30 a.m., but it feels like the crack of dawn after all the turkey and celebrating the day before), pack ourselves into the van and head to the mall. We do pick up a few items while we're out, but we mostly just people watch. You will not believe how badly behaved people can be when it comes to scoring good deals. Last year, we witnessed two people get into a profanity-laced shouting match over a parking spot. One year, my mom was jokingly showing me a bottle of NASCARsponsored cologne when a lady grabbed it right out of her hand. Then there was the year when a pedestrian slipped on some ice as he crossed the road and grabbed onto our van for support. My dad was convinced the poor guy was trying to carjack us. So while I am looking forward to Christmas, I really can't wait for the day after. If you're thinking of heading out to the shops this Boxing Day, please remember to behave yourself: you never know who is watching! And not to brag or anything, but this edition of In Focus is perhaps our most eclectic issue of the year.
