Wallace, a beloved longtime music teacher, was abruptly transferred to another school in December, devastating many of her students who launched a Facebook page in an effort to bring her back. The group of 22 had hoped to appear as a delegation at the Halton District School Board meeting Wednesday night (Feb. 1), but was turned down. In an email Board chair Don Vrooman said the Board wouldn't hear the delegation because it's a personnel matter. Lisa-Dawn McKenzie, a member of the group, said they are hoping the Board will reconsider and let the group appear as a delegation, but if not, they still intend to go to the board office in Burlington Wednesday night to show their support for Wallace's return. "Students and parents need an outlet to feel as if they're being heard," said McKenzie. "If we stand outside the building on board night at least we've shown that people from Georgetown have made the drive down there." The group is also taking part in a letterwriting campaign targeting mostly Halton Hills Trustee Gillian Tuck Kutarna telling her it's her mandate to instruct the Director of Education to reverse Wallace's transfer. Anyone interested in attending the meeting is asked to email McKenzie at lmckenzie@cogeco.ca. The caller said they believed another child was attempting to get the child out of the water. Crews searched the area and couldn't find anybody. They continued to search along the river in Glen Williams and Norval but didn't find anything. A spokesperson for the fire department said while they were searching a woman and a dog approached them. The woman said her dog had been in the water, became distressed and she went in to rescue him. It's believed that's what the passerby saw mistaking the woman and dog for children. Homeowners!
