But after recording eight points in four days, the Raiders have leapfrogged past the Blades for top spot in the division by one point and appear to be positioned nicely to emerge as best in the West with six regular-season games left. The first- and second-place teams in each OJHL division receive an opening-round playoff bye and Georgetown's goal now is to secure home-ice advantage through the conference finals. The 33-9-1 Raiders have won 15 of their past 16 starts, including a 9-1 rout of the host Brampton Capitals Thursday, followed by a four-point haul over the Capitals here Saturday evening, finished off with a 6-3 triumph in Burlington against the Cougars Sunday. Meanwhile, the Blades dropped weekend contests against Stouffville and Burlington and have just five games remaining. On Thursday at Memorial Arena, the Raiders jumped out to a quick 4-0 first-period lead and cruised from there over the 6-39-0 Capitals. Nick Perruccio (2), Ryan Lopes (2), Conor McLoughlin, Patrick Megannety, Manny Gialedakis, Alex Lubczuk and Jacob Bauchman tallied for Georgetown, with Stephen Genua earning five assists. Fans attending Saturday evening's action at the Alcott Arena got five periods of hockey for the price of three. Completing a postponed game from the opening night of the regular season on Sept. 10 in Georgetown that was halted after two periods with Brampton leading 1-0, the Raiders got an overtime marker from captain Alex Lubczuk to earn a 2-1 victory. Perruccio supplied the third-period equalizer. In the regularly scheduled tilt, goalie Steven Racine recorded his third shutout since being acquired in early December in a 6-0 pasting of the Caps and the 20-year-old from Buffalo is now 10-0-0 in a Georgetown uniform with a 1.49 goalsagainst average. Perruccio and Lopes again had two goals apiece, with singles added by Genua and Nathan Domagala. Completing the whirlwind weekend against a possible divisional semi-final playoff series opponent in Burlington Sunday afternoon, Georgetown built a 3-0 lead against the feisty fourth-place Cougars, receiving a pair of goals each from Brendan Woods and Gialedakis. Tyson Fawcett and Patrick Megannety rounded out the scoring. This week, the Raiders visit Orangeville Wednesday and Milton Friday before hosting Brampton once more Saturday at the Alcott Arena starting at 7:30 p.m. To finish out the schedule next week, the Raiders face Buffalo twice and finish up against Burlington on Sunday, Feb. 12. Run on the same course as the Youth Olympic event, Gillies, who turned 16 on Jan. 19, placed seventh in a field of 26 competitors made up mostly of 20- to 23-yearolds. The Calgary resident had a two-run time of one minute, 49.33 seconds to finish tied for seventh, 2.25 seconds back of the gold medalist.
