...renowned artists and lecturers Joe Coutts featured in winter exhibit The Williams Mill Visual Arts Centre will feature the works of internationally acclaimed artist Joe Coutts, wood sculptor, at the Williams Mill Gallery, from Feb. 10 to March 4. The artist is a selftaught wood sculptor and naturalist, and a resident of Glen Williams. The collection on display offers an interesting and revealing cross-section of the works of Joe Coutts, including a variety of progressive pieces featuring plants, wildlife, and birds of prey. This is a rare first-time opportunity for the public to view the season series of sculptures that were showcased to the world leaders at the G8 Summit in Huntsville, Ontario in 2010. Included in the show are the carved pieces used to create the bronze sculpting for The Falcon that offers the option of longevity to the pieces created by the artist. Guest artists include Laura Kingsbury, Marg Peter, Sheri Tenaglia and Lorne Winters. Stem cell researcher talks about science and art On Monday, February 13, at 6:30 p.m., the Williams Mill Visual Arts Centre will host Dr. Andras Nagy, world renowned developmental molecular geneticist and Senior Investigator at the Samuel Lunenfeld Research Institute at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. He is also professor in the Department of Molecular Genetics at the University of Toronto, and holds a Canada Research Chair in Stem Cells and Regeneration. Dr. Nagy will be providing a presentation on stem cell technology and exploring ways to better understand stem cells, the communication gap and the potential for finding creative solutions through art.
