SHOP HALTON HILLS The Way We Were Val Leachman opened The Way We Were in downtown Georgetown in August of 2009. Since then the store has doubled in size, a second store was opened in Erin, and she was just honoured by the Chamber of Commerce as Entrepreneur of the Year! Consignment shopping has been a lifelong passion for Val and she has created the elegant boutique style of ladies stores that she had always dreamed of. The Georgetown store offers more than 2,000 square-feet of fabulous fashions for every occasion, from formal to funky, including authentic and reproduction vintage clothing and accessories. Both stores feature new and consigned fashions and accessories for women of all ages, sizes and styles. The stores carry the unique and popular Kameleon jewelry, a Canadian line of sterling silver jewelry that features a patented design of interchangeable inserts. Val's friendly and knowledgeable staff take great pride in helping customers to navigate the stores two levels and assist in finding that perfect outfit and accessories. Val invites the public to drop in and see what consignment shopping is all about. The stores are on Facebook and weekly updates of new arrivals in both stores are posted. The youth theatre company's 10-week production programs welcome youths aged 10 to 20 to learn all aspects of putting on a play - from acting to set construction and costume design to lighting and choreography. After the success of the fall program, Alexandra, the company's owner and artistic director, moved full speed ahead with the winter program: a new production of Canadian playwright Dennis Foon's `Mirror Game'. At the end of March the young actors perform this play at the Acton Town Hall Centre as well as at high schools in Orangeville and Guelph. The group has also been invited to perform at a youth festival in Sault Sainte Marie. "This is why I started the company," says Alexandra, who studied theatre at the University of Ottawa, the University of Toronto and the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in NYC. "So that we can continue to try new opportunities, and broaden the youths' experiences.'" To Be Determined Theatre Company's spring program begins in April and the company is also holding a March Break camp where each day will be dedicated to a different aspect of theatre. Youth can sign up for one day or for the entire week. "I want to give them a taste of different types of theatre and expand their idea of what theatre is," Alexandra says. Margaret Olah (Kabinet Pro) When it comes to kitchen and bathroom renovations, Margaret Olah likes to think outside the box. Margaret owns and operates Kabinet Pro, a custom kitchen and bathroom cabinet company based in Georgetown. Margaret and her colleague Ken work closely with homeowners to design functional layouts with high-quality cabinetry for kitchens and bathrooms. The business does everything from simple countertop replacements to overseeing entire kitchen and bathroom renovations. "Sometimes we create a different layout than the client expected because we want to make a space that works," says Margaret, a kitchen design consultant. "We think of things differently so our clients get an innovative design they wouldn't get anywhere else." With more than 15 years of experience in the industry, Kabinet Pro has earned a reputation for quality workmanship, honesty and competitive pricing. Margaret and Ken install the cabinets themselves and can refer clients to trusted local tradespeople to complete any other work. Whether they're doing a small replacement or a large renovation, Margaret and Ken care about each and every project. Word of their work has spread across southern Ontario with clients calling from as far away as Concord and Barrie. "We work very, very hard to give the best product, the best price and the best service," Margaret says. "We care passionately about every job." 416-801-0025 ALEXANDRA LENT www.tobedeterminedtheatre.ca email: alent@tobedeterminedtheatre.ca 27 Main St. S., Georgetown MARGARET OLAH 905-702-7719 Glenn Sproule (iPro Realty) Glenn Sproule has combined his areas of expertise into the perfect career. Glenn brings extensive knowledge of the Ontario Building Code to protect his clients' interests. Glenn's commitment to customer service over the years has created a loyal group of clients who recommend him to their friends and family. To Glenn, there is nothing better than a referral. "Referrals to me are the highest compliment someone could pay," he says. "It shows they have trust in me when they refer their friends and family." Georgetown Animal Clinic The Georgetown Animal Clinic has undergone a big change lately. As of February 1, veterinarians Dr. Kara Gray and Dr. Evan Freeman took ownership of the clinic, which first opened its doors in 1972. Both Kara and Evan are familiar faces - Evan has been at the clinic since 2006 and Kara since 2008. Kara grew up on a dairy farm in Dalkeith, ON, surrounded by her family pets while Evan, originally from Thornhill, ON, spent his childhood with dogs and now shares his home with three cats. "Animals have been part of our families since we were children," Evan and Kara agree, "so becoming veterinarians and ultimately owning the clinic was a natural progression for us." Located at 4 Mountainview Road South, at the intersection of Guelph Street and Mountainview Road, the clinic provides a variety of veterinary services for dogs and cats, including examinations, vaccinations, radiology, ultrasounds, surgery and dentistry. Both Kara and Evan graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College, Evan in 2006 and Kara in 2007. Together with associate veterinarian Dr. Jessica Trites, they are joined by 10 other team members, including receptionists, registered veterinary technicians and veterinary assistants. Living and working in Georgetown is a pleasure for Kara and Evan. "I love running into clients," Evan says. "Sometimes it takes longer to do my grocery shopping, but I love it." iPro Realty Ltd., Brokerage Office: 905-873-6111 Direct: 416-553-0054 gsproule@trebnet.com Dr. Kara Gray & Dr. Evan Freeman with Sabrina 4 Mountainview Rd.
