School board seeks input on budget The Halton Catholic District School Board (HCDSB) is inviting residents to provide input on the 2012-2013 budget priorities. "The Halton Catholic District School Board is committed to working in partnership with parents and community stakeholders in making budget decisions in the coming year," says Alice Anne LeMay, Chair of the Halton Catholic District School Board. Input may be submitted online at www.hcdsb.org until Friday, March 30. Follow the link from the home page. Also posted is a presentation, which provides information about the Board's budget process, priorities and budget challenges for the upcoming school year. The presentation includes spending stats such as over 80 per cent of HCDSB's money is spent directly on classroom, school administration, transportation, while another 16 per cent is on pupil accommodation (interest on building debentures and amortization of capital assets). Only 1 per cent is spent on consultants and 3 per cent on board administration. The board spends about $316 million annually-- with most of that funding coming from Ministry of Education grants based on per pupil.
