10 The IFP · Halton Hills, Thursday, March 29, 2012 CAShh has spring fever! Campaign begins in April By ANNA MAE MOORE CAShh volunteer April is fast approaching for our campaign of funds. For 12 years now Cancer Assistance Services has proven its power to care in our community. Please invest and believe in the people and ideas that matter! Perhaps it doesn't matter to you today; however just imagine being diagnosed with cancer. Most are faced with treatments of surgery, chemo and/or radiation. Mustering up the strength to battle this disease usually is secondary to the stress of managing sick leave, care of children and home responsibilities. CAShh lessens the stress by providing transportation or will reimburse for parking expenses when a family member does the driving. Food supplements to withstand weight loss, relaxation programs to regain strength, balance and energy, wigs, night hats, pretty scarves, special pillows for those in treatment, some equipment loans or help in the home when needed. The For Good- Georgetown's Canadian Cancer Society begins residential campaign April 1 Canadian Cancer Society's annual Residential Campaign will be launching April 1st in conjunction with Daffodil Month. Money raised during this campaign helps the Society fight back against cancer by doing everything it can to prevent cancer from ever happening in the first place, funding research to outsmart cancer and empowering, informing, supporting and improving the lives of those living with cancer. Last year, the Canadian Cancer Society--Georgetown Dufferin Peel Unit raised over $140,000 from the residential campaign. This year, the branch is hoping to beat that record. It tells patients that no one has to face cancer alone and Society volunteers won't give up until all forms of the disease are defeated. Pick up a bunch from the Acton Cancer Society volunteers at Sobeys today, Friday and Saturday; $7 a bunch or 2 for $12. Now a Daffodil Pin is also being offered for a donation. All proceeds go to research, support for cancer patients and early detection and risk reduction programs. The April Residential campaign is our major source of income, and when someone knocks on your door this is your opportunity to give generously. Our campaign goal is $110,000. Please be assured your donation is going directly to services; it takes millions of dollars to fund research, but a small donation will go far in our organization. Donation dollars are very important to keep our organization vibrant. It's imperative to make a well-informed decision when canvassers start knocking on your door. We hope we can count on you to give generously because we can't imagine Halton Hills without CAShh.We are unique; catch the fever.
