Children's Chorus to wave the flag in spring concert By LOIS FRASER Georgetown Children's Chorus The Georgetown Children's Chorus is feeling very Canadian, especially this year. On Saturday, April 14 (at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.), the choir is presenting "Canada Is...", a collection of songs about Canada. It's a perfect year for the choir to celebrate being Canadian, since 30 members from the choir are singing on Canada Day at the National Arts Centre and at the Parliament Buildings in Ottawa. The choir was invited to participate (they are representing Ontario) at five concerts with 350 participants from across Canada. This is the third Canadianthemed concert in the choir's 20-year history and it will take place at the Georgetown Christian Reformed Church,11611 Trafalgar Road. "You can't beat Canadian music and we have carefully chosen great songs to represent both our choir and our country," says Music Director, Dale Wood. "The kids' favourites include songs like She's Called Nova Scotia, Frobisher Bay, Great Big Sea, Bonavist Harbour, and the two Olympic themes, Can't You Feel It? (Calgary) and I Believe (Vancouver). Then there's the unofficial anthem...Gordon Lightfoot's Railroad Trilogy." The littlest ones (age 5) will sing their favourites too, including Baby Beluga, The Canada Goose and Jack was Every Inch a Sailor. Finishing all of this patriot music off is some fiddle music. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children. Call 905877-6841 or get tickets at the door. Come and feel proud of our homeland all over again! 13 ·The IFP· Halton Hills, Tuesday, April 10, 2012 Local dancers win lots of trophies in Pittsburgh The Ronda Copeland School of Dance of Georgetown competed in the 34th I Love Dance competition in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania recently and brought home lots of hardware.
