Bethel expansion construction moving quickly Continued from pg. 21 was a major clean up done in every room and corner in this church. Coincidentally, it was March Break and there were plenty of eager high school aged students who were happy to clean up the old building. Pews were moved and the interior wall was built and braced that week as well. Demolition of the front of the church was quick and if people in Acton didn't take notice of our church before, they certainly did now. Up to this point, we spent very little money. Skilled labour was volunteered and if we had to put a number on the cleaning, moving and demo, it would easily be in the tens of thousands. With the old foundation and walls out of the way, we dug a hole where the new church was going to be, and footing forms were placed. Right after the footings the foundation walls were formed and poured. This was done in two pours. Our call for help was answered with 1920 volunteers showing up on two Saturdays to strip and clean forms. This saved 25 ·The IFP· Halton Hills, Thursday, May 31, 2012 five days total in time and thousands of dollars in labour. We are now in a phase where the contracted trades are starting. For example, the block layers are finished laying out the classroom walls, and structural steel is well underway. To keep the momentum going, our plan will be the start of some basement renovations. They will dissect some plumbing and tear up some of the floor to make way for our new basement washrooms. This wasn't slated to start until October, but why put off for tomorrow what can be done today! We encourage everyone to go to our church website (www.actoncrc.com) and visit the link to view ongoing pictures of the construction project. red hot prices... limited time only!
