Making something from nothing When Megan Pontes, 9, a Grade 4 student at St. Catharine of Alexandria School, brought home `Mr. Nobody', a school doll designed to encourage students to learn how to make him `Mr. Somebody,' she decided the best way to achieve that was to organize a food drive on her street. After attending the Lions Club Breakfast, in aid of the Georgetown Bread Basket food bank, Megan, with help from her dad, dropped off letters to residents in her neighbourhood (Gollop Crescent and Kay Lane) on a Wednesday and returned on Saturday morning to collect the food donations. In total, she collected 400 lbs. of food, which was dropped off at the food bank. Megan hopes to make her food drive an annual event.
