Photos by Ted Brown Have you started counting down sleeps to the 3rd Annual Big DADDY Festival yet? The Festival, designed to celebrate Dads and Halton Hills, is running this Father's Day Weekend June 15th -June 17th with events taking place in Glen Williams, Norval's Willow Park, Downtown Georgetown and multiple Acton sites. The Big DADDY Festival is fast becoming a signature event for Halton Hills, bringing together an exciting array of cultural, sporting, and artistic events (mostly free!) that give Dads and those who love them a chance for loads of fun! This year's Festival kicks off Friday with a Dad & Me Free Swim at the Gellert Centre from 5:30-7:30 pm. Mighty Machines will also be on display why not climb on up and have your photo taken with your Dad (or significant other adult) and then drop in to a PickUp Soccer Game! The Festival on Main on Saturday in downtown Georgetown has something for everyone including family activities, street performers and more Mighty Machines. Head on over to Acton for activities ranging from planting trees, Scavenger Hunting downtown and performing in the Acton's Got Talent contest. Finish off the day by watching The Incredibles in Prospect Park on Saturday night. Sunday's lineup also promises to deliver with many interactive art workshops at the Williams Mill including glass blowing, painting, clay wheelthrowing and carving. Music and other family activities will also be featured and then why not wander over to the Glen Oven Café to sample a customized Daddy Burger or to the Copper Kettle for a pint (or maybe both!) Just down the road the Beaumont Mill will host a Kids-Paint-a-Boat activity - and this is no small boat... it is a full-sized trawler with room for all of your and Dad's creativity. Activities are also running at Willow Park Ecology Centre in Norval where you can be inspired by a Native Drum Circle, Make Your Own Drum, Paint Turtles and then, if you are really adventurous, jump in the river to cheer on your very own "Paddle to the Sea" race canoe.
