Left photo by Andrea Lefebvre Bottom photo by Ron Stiel Alice Strachan appointed new HDSB trustee Alice Strachan, a life-long Halton Hills resident, has been appointed the new Halton Hills trustee for the Halton District School Board (HDSB). Strachan will serve the remainder of the term until October 2014, filling the vacancy that occurred when Gillian Tuck Kutarna announced her resignation from the position early in May. Thirty people applied for the position-- 19 from Halton Hills, five from Oakville, four from Milton and two from Burlington. Along with Strachan, other Halton Hills applicants included Mandy Kerfoot, who ran for the position in the 2010 election against Tuck Kutarna, Michael Parkhill, another former Halton Hills trustee candidate, and Jay Jackson, former provincial and federal candidate and current chair of the Halton Hills Public Library Board. HDSB trustees spent last Monday (June 11) conducting dozens of interviews leading to the selection of a candidate to fill the vacancy. Strachan will be sworn-in at the Halton District School Board's regular meeting tomorrow (Wednesday).
