Photo by Ted Brown Danby Rd. bridge to go ahead... but with path By LISA TALLYN Staff Writer Despite efforts by a group of local residents to stop it, a bridge will be built connecting Danby Rd. to new development planned in Georgetown South, but people who use the trail in Gellert Community Park won't have to stop for traffic there as the path will run under the bridge. "This is a huge win for everybody who uses the trail system," said Councillor Jane Fogal at a recent council meeting where council endorsed the recommendations of a study done on the Danby bridge issue be included into draft plan conditions for Fernbrook Homes Phase 3 development. Last summer residents in the Danby Rd. area presented the Town with a petition protesting the building of the bridge over Sixteen Mile Creek that would extend from Danby to Eighth Line. Residents opposed the bridge because it would add traffic, and subsequently increase traffic safety concerns for children on Danby near Gardiner Public School and Danby Rd. Park.
