United Way President's Ball to kick off $350,000 campaign The 14th Annual President's Ball, hosted by United Way of Halton Hills, is only two weeks away. This glamorous semi-formal event will be held at the Club at North Halton on Saturday, Sept. 15, 6 p.m. to midnight. This special evening begins with a cocktail hour, featuring a martini bar. A sumptuous gourmet dinner will be served prior to the entertainment, featuring local artist Laura T. and Jazz band. Tickets are $90/person. Silent auction tables will be open for bids throughout the evening, featuring items such as: a 32" LCD TV, Raptors tickets, a sky diving experience, dining gift cards, local art, wine tours, and many donations from local retailers. All proceeds go towards the United Way of Halton Hill's 2012 Fall Campaign-- with a target of $350,000-- which supports the funding of 20 local social service agencies. These agencies provide programs and services to children, adults, families, seniors, people with disabilities and a helping hand to people in crisis situations. For details about tickets, making a donation or inquiring about sponsorships, call Janet Foster, Executive Director of United Way of Halton Hills, 905877-3066. 9 ·The IFP· Halton Hills, Tuesday, September 4, 2012 GLT Studio Shows to star lettuce? On Sept. 6, 7, 8, at 8 p.m. GLT will also be presenting their third annual The Studio Shows at the GLT Studio, 33 Stewarttown Rd. The opening play, This is A Play, by Daniel MacIvor is a smart, but funny spoof on doing a play. Michelle Emson has composed new music, and even lettuce has a starring role. This plot will have audiences howling at the theatrical in-jokes as three actors (Pam Robertson-Cooper, Sam Hancock and Ro Palumbo-Coates) not only do their lines but speak their thoughts as well. The second play, White Rabbit Red Rabbit, is by Nassim Soleimanpour and produced by the Failed Magicians' League. This Iranian author created a play that turns his isolation to his advantage. The play requires no director, nor set. Each performance is by a different actor. This uniquely original play will open your eyes to the experiences of the author's generation in Iran. Tickets are available at the door for $10 or Pay-What-You-Can. For info: on the upcoming season www.georgetownlittletheatre.ca, 905-877-3422.
