Shortly before 9 p.m. the 18-year-old man was crossing 10 Sideroad between Trafalgar Road and Eighth Line when he was struck by an eastbound Audi driven by a 39-year-old Georgetown man. Due to the severity of the injuries the teen was originally being taken by EMS to Hamilton General Hospital but was diverted to Milton District Hospital when his condition deteriorated. He succumbed to his injuries at Milton District Hospital shortly before midnight. Due to the fatal injuries, the Collision Reconstruction Unit took control of the investigation. The driver of the Audi was shaken up but not injured. He was able to provide police with a full statement. As of The Independent & Free Press' holiday press time Friday (Aug. 31) Halon Police had not released the name of the victim as nextof-kin had yet to be notified. There were no independent witnesses to this incident. At the time of the collision the weather was clear and dry but the roadway was dark. Ten Sideroad, between Trafalgar and Eighth Line, was closed for five hours while the Halton Police Reconstruction Team collected evidence and took measurements. This is the fifth traffic fatality to be investigated by the Halton Police Collision Reconstruction Unit this year, and the first to occur in the Town of Halton Hills.
