In Canada more than 4,000 people die each year by suicide. In Halton Region an average of 30 suicide deaths occur annually. Every person who dies by suicide directly impacts at least 10 family members, friends, or colleagues. The Distress Centres of North Halton (DCNH) and Oakville are communitybased organizations that provide free and confidential telephone support to individuals 365 days of the year. "We know that anyone, at any time, can find themselves feeling lonely or overwhelmed. Our Distress Lines are staffed by highly trained volunteers who will listen and provide emotional support," said Gail Cartwright, of DCNH. "We can help you to brainstorm ideas or just chat.
