Halton Police and Halton Hills Fire Department crews were called to the residence on 10 Sideroad near Winston Churchill Boulevard shortly after 8:30 p.m. They found half of a wooden deck attached to the home fully engulfed in flames. Several small explosions also occurred due to the fire spreading to barbecue propane cylinders. The fire broke through to a basement window adjacent to the deck and spread to the wooden joists of the first floor. A Georgetown man is facing several charges after a car stolen in Erin was located in Georgetown. On Thursday (September 13), investigators from the One District Criminal Investigations Bureau located a vehicle that had been reported stolen in August. The vehicle had been taken from an address in the Town of Erin and was parked behind an apartment building on Cherry Street in Georgetown. Early Thursday police arrested the suspect after he was seen The fire was quickly contained by Halton Hills firefighters. No estimate on damage is available at the present time and there were no injuries. The residence, an old farmhouse converted into two rental units, was occupied by a Georgetown man in one unit and two females in the other. When the females arrived home, they observed the fire on the exterior of the residence and their neighbour driving away in his vehicle. He later returned and was interviewed by police. Investigators from the Collision Reconstruction and Arson Unit arrived and took over the investigation. The Ontario Fire getting inside the vehicle. Police subsequently recovered a quantity of stolen property, which included a victim's purse, identification, and gift cards. A local man is now facing several charges in relation to the incident. Marshal was called in and a fire investigator spent most of Thursday collecting evidence. A report from the Fire Marshal determining the cause will not be available for several weeks. After interviewing the other residents, it was determined that an ongoing neighbour dispute existed. As a result of an investigation into that dispute, the male resident was arrested. William James McLean, 34, of Georgetown has been charged with two counts of criminal harassment, two counts of uttering threats and one count of breaching recognizance.
