A tonneau cover was ripped on a Jeep, a windshield was smashed in an RV, the roof was dented and trunk scratched on a 1967 Chevrolet Nova, a snowmobile trailer was spray-painted and a mirror was smashed and there was damage to the interior of a trailer during the incident. Two male youths, one aged 10, the other 12, from Acton were found in an RV after entering through a vent and were unable to get out. The 10-year old was turned over to his parents and the 12-year-old was diverted to the Halton Youth Justice Program instead of being charged. ··· A 17-year-old Georgetown girl was charged with assault Sunday in connection with an incident at a gas station at Mountainview Rd. and Guelph St. about 8 p.m. Halton Police report a 17-year-old girl was in the gas station kiosk buying candy when she saw a girl she knows walk by. The girl came out of the kiosk and someone jumped her from behind and began striking her until a person in a vehicle honking their horn interrupted the incident. The accused left. The victim, who received minor injuries, went to the police station to report the incident. The accused was identified, contacted by police, and came to the police station where she was charged about 11 p.m. ··· A Caledon woman was charged after police stopped a vehicle in the Main St. and Maple Ave. area about 8:30 p.m. Saturday. Police had received a report of the vehicle being driven erratically. Charged with failure to provide a breath sample is Sandra Lee Mcauley, 45. ··· Halton Police responded to a Baylor Cr. residence about 1:30 a.m. Sunday after the owner of a vehicle looked out of the window of her home and saw the headlights and tail lights go on and off in her Jeep. The woman believes she may also have seen someone in the backyard. Rural roads the focus of police campaign The rural roads in Halton Hills and Milton will be the focus of a traffic safety campaign launched by Halton Police yesterday (Monday). Police will be focusing their enforcement efforts in the rural area in response to the number of fatal collisions on rural roadways this year. There have been six fatal accidents in Halton Region since the beginning of the year-- five of those occurred on rural roads. The rural traffic safety campaign will run through Oct. 8. Officers will be looking for speeders and conducting RIDE spot checks at various hours of the day at different rural locations. "Traffic safety on all regional roads is a priority.
