Police launch Drive SAFE campaign in north Halton Following close cooperation with the Region of Halton and the Towns of Milton and Halton Hills, police o cers have been assigned to 30 identi ed high-risk locations in the area to conduct zero tolerance enforcement during the month of February. An equal amount of locations have been identi ed for enforcement in both towns in the Drive SAFE (Safety Awareness for Everyone) campaign. ese locations have been identi ed through a process that determines the anticipated tra c volume, frequency of collisions, the severity of the collisions and the potential for safety improvement through enforcement. Regional roads run through each township and typically, these roads accommodate higher volumes of tra c including higher numbers of commercial motor vehicles. As such regional roads will be targeted by the District Response Unit, which will work with the service's Commercial Motor Vehicle Unit to target aggressive drivers and commercial motor vehicles. O cers recognize that each town has its own particular tra c concerns and needs for enforcement. e campaign will seek to address these concerns as the year progresses by conducting an evaluation with Town and Regional sta each month. is evaluation will include complaints received by citizens, engineering studies conducted by town sta and through police analytics. Locations deemed to present a high level of risk to road users will receive targeted enforcement. is partnership supports Halton Region's Comprehensive Road Safety Action Plan (CROSAP), which seeks to ensure the safe and e cient operation of the road network. Halton Regional Police Service is committed to reducing dangerous and aggressive driving behaviours that put all road users at risk. roughout the course of the year o cers from the Community mobilization Bureau will seek community partnerships in order to achieve the goal of improved road safety within the Towns of Milton and Halton Hills.
