•T he IF P• H al to n H ill s •T hu rs da y, J ul y 4, 2 01 3 24 NOTICE OF STUDY COMMENCEMENT Highway 401 Bridge Rehabilitation from Trafalgar Road Westerly to Halton Region Boundary G.W.P. 2188-10-00 THE PROJECT The Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) has retained AECOM Canada Limited (AECOM) to undertake a Preliminary Design and Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) study to prepare the strategy for the rehabilitation of 13 bridge structures along Highway 401 in the Towns of Milton and Halton Hills. The study includes conducting detailed condition surveys of the bridges within the project limits, developing a rehabilitation and/or replacement strategy of the bridges, possible interchange reconfiguration of Regional Road 25 and James Snow Parkway and developing construction staging and traffic management measures while considering the Ministry's ultimate planning for the Highway 401 corridor within the study limit. The bridges included in this study are: 1. First Line Underpass 8. CNR Overpass 2. CPR Overpass 9. Steeles Avenue Underpass 3. Campbellville Road Overpass 10. James Snow Parkway Interchange Underpass 4. Sixteen Mile Creek Bridge 11. 5th Line Overpass 5. Appleby Line Overpass 12. Oakville Creek West Branch Bridge 6. Tremaine Road Underpass 13. Oakville Creek East Branch Bridge 7. Highway/Regional Road 25 Interchange Underpass The locations of these bridges are shown on the key map below. THE PROCESS The study is following the approved environmental planning process for Group 'B' projects under the Class Environmental Assessment for Provincial Transportation Facilities (2000) with the opportunity for public input throughout. During the study, a Public Information Centre (PIC) will be held to provide information and obtain input. Upon completion of this study, a Transportation Environmental Study Report (TESR) will be placed on the public record to document the study process, the design for the recommended improvements and the consultation undertaken throughout the study. Both the PIC and the release of the TESR for public review will be the subject of future public notices.
