Often, it occurs alone. Tinnitus arising from the inner ear frequently indicates more permanent and serious disease. Exposure to a sudden loud noise - a gunshot or explosion, for example results in tinnitus that subsides to a low level of ringing for an extended period of time. Disorders affecting the cochlea (hearing center) of the inner ear can cause tinnitus. The Town of Halton Hills has its very own tree in China. The city of Wenjiang in Chengdu, China, unveiled the ceremonial tree in September during a trade visit by Mayor Rick Bonnette and some members of the Halton Hills council and staff. The "Friendship Tree" was planted in the centre of the city's main park, in honour of the sister city agreement between Wen- jiang and Halton Hills, which was finalized last year. The tree is accompanied by an inscribed stone reading: "Wenjiang, China - Halton Hills, Canada. In memory of the evergreen and everlasting friendship." "The beautiful tree planted by our friends in China is symbolic of our partner- ship being rooted in shared values and ex- ists as a tangible reminder of our flourish- ing relationship," said Bonnette. In turn, the Town of Halton Hills recent- ly celebrated the partnership with a festival highlighting Wenjiang and Chinese cul- ture. A delegation from China was in town for the Wenjiang Festival from Oct. 23 to Oct. 28. Highlights included a special art exhibi- tion, Chinese dance and cooking lessons, as well as a daylong friendly hockey tourna- ment that included local players and a vis- iting team from Wenjiang. The genesis of the partnership between Wenjiang and Halton Hills dates back to 2015. "The catalyst for the partnership was the September 2015 delegation to China, which included Mayor Rick Bonnette. As a result of that trade mission, relationships were es- tablished with many Chinese cities. In No- vember 2015, the Town of Halton Hills host- ed a delegation from Chengdu City, China. During this delegation, Ms. Tian Rong, vice- mayor of Chengdu City, invited the mayor and a delegation from Halton Hills to visit Chengdu City and explore a twinning agreement," writes the town on its website. Town of Halton Hills photo Halton Healthcare and its three hospital founda- tions recently celebrated a million dollar milestone of Dufferin Aggregates' Ready Mix (RMX) Drum Sponsorship Program. Each year, Dufferin Ag- gregates "drums up" $5,000 sponsorships from many of their business partners. Sponsors are recog- nized for their contribu- tion by having their name and logo displayed on a number of ready mix trucks for one year. This year, there will be three Halton Healthcare ready mix trucks in circu- lation. "We applaud Dufferin Concrete and Dufferin Ag- gregates and all their par- ticipating customers and suppliers for their unwa- vering support of our three hospitals in Oak- ville, Milton and Halton Hills over the past de- cade," said Denise Hard- enne, president and CEO of Halton Healthcare. "From advanced medi- cal equipment in our labo- ratory and imaging de- partments to stretchers and beds in patient rooms - the result of your support impacts patient care with far-reaching outcomes. Thank you for your commitment to improving the health of our commu- nity and for helping us transform the community hospital experience." The RMX Drum Spon- sorship program was es- tablished in 2007 and, over the last 10 years, has raised $1 million for Hal- ton Healthcare's three hospitals: Georgetown Hospital, Milton District Hospital and Oakville Tra- falgar Memorial Hospital. Dufferin Aggregates is dedicated to ensuring that the communities of Halton have access to quality health care, close to home. All of the proceeds from the RMX Drum Sponsor- ship Program are donated to the Georgetown Hospi- tal Foundation, the Milton District Hospital Founda- tion and the Oakville Hos- pital Foundation. The funds are used by each foundation to pur- chase vital hospital equip- ment, improving the qual- ity of care offered to our communities and contrib- uting to Halton Health- care's vision of delivering efficient patient experi- ences.
