An 18-year-old Mississauga man is dead following a single-vehicle collision in Georgetown early last Saturday morning. Halton Regional Police say a 2013 Toyota sports car was travelling eastbound on Ma- ple Avenue near Main Street just after 1 a.m. The driver appeared to have lost con- trol of the vehicle and crashed into several light poles before slamming into a tree. The driver and front seat passenger sus- tained minor injuries. However, the pas- senger in the back seat, from Mississauga, suffered critical injuries and died en route to the hospital. The Collision Reconstruction Unit is in- vestigating the cause of the crash. Shortly before 6 p.m., a lone man approached the cashier at Preston's Food Market and demanded all of the store's cash. The owner of the store chased the culprit outside and grappled him to the ground with the assistance of passersby. The suspect was held until police arrived and he was quickly taken into cus- tody.
