GHVA donates $50,000 to campaign The Georgetown Hospital Volunteer Association (GHVA) presented a cheque for $50,000 to the Georgetown Hospital Foundation at its Annual General Meet- ing. This was the third instalment of $50,000 towards their fi ve-year $250,000 pledge to the capital fundraising cam- paign for the Georgetown Hospital Emergency and Diagnostic Imaging De- partments' expansion and renovation project. "The Georgetown Hospital Volunteer Association's support of the Georgetown Hospital expansion project has been extremely valuable," said K.C. Carru- thers, Executive Director, Georgetown Hospital Foundation. "In recognition of their support and contribution we will be recognizing the Volunteers Associa- tion through the naming of the new Di- agnostic Imaging Department Women's Health Suite." "The Association has actively played its part through our fi nancial support in the transformation that is taking place at the Hospital," said Marie Car- ney, GHVA President. "We are amazed at the progress that the expansion proj- ect at Georgetown Hospital has already achieved, and continue to look forward to see the fi nal results that our contri- butions will have helped to make at our Hospital and in our community. "Our volunteers are an integral part of our healthcare team, and their $50,000 donation will help to ensure that the renovations in the Emergency and Di- agnostic Imaging Department as well as the addition of the Hospital's fi rst CT Scanner happen," said John Oliver, HHS President & CEO. "Thank you to the As- sociation for their tremendous efforts." With a membership of over 150 adult and youth volunteers, the GHVA assists in many areas throughout the Hospital. The Association raises money through monetary and memorial donations, by operating the Hospital Gift Shop and Coffee Kiosk, through the HELPP Lot- tery, its annual poinsettia sale, choco- late sales and by organizing various community events such as the Annual Fashion Show and the Annual Straw- berry Social. The Georgetown Hospital Volunteer Association offers a rewarding and ful- fi lling volunteer experience to adults and youth.
