Professional Arts Building 99 Sinclair Ave., Suite 210, Georgetown 905-873-6642 The Georgetown Serving the community of Halton Hills and surrounding areas since 1992 WHAT IS IT? Tinnitus is a subjective experience where one hears a sound, ringing or noise when no external physical sound is present. Some call it "head noises", "ear ringing," or other similar things. WHAT CAUSES IT? There are many causes; indeed almost everything that can go wrong with the ear has Tinnitus associated with it as a symptom. Things as simple as wax against the eardrum to very serious items such as tumors on the 7th facial nerve can produce Tinnitus. Meniere's disease has Tinnitus associated with it. One of the most common causes of Tinnitus is exposure to excessively loud sounds such as shooting, chain saw, rock concerts, or other loud noises. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused our valued customers. It is time for the Annual Mingle and Chat picnic at Cedarvale Park on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Bring your chair, hat, sun- tan lotion water, and food to share with the others. If it rains bring all these things to the Centre and we will have the picnic there. One place or the other, we are having a picnic. The "Sweatin' to the Oldies" group, that met this week for the fi rst time, had a fun time and ex- ercised too. This will continue Tuesdays and Thursdays until the end of August. Why not venture out and try it? Classes at 10 a.m. Three new drop-in programs have been added recently and their popularity is growing. On Mondays, it's dominos, on Tues- days ping-pong is being played and on Thursdays it's shuffl e- board. They all start at 1 p.m. It sounds to me like they are all hav- ing fun and you would be more than welcome. Beginning August 28 you will be able to sign up for the fall Ac- tive Living Programs. Plans are well under way for Open House Week, Sept. 9-13. This is a great opportunity for non-members and members to visit and see what we have to of- fer all seniors. There will be some "try it" sessions. Still room for more to join us for a trip to the Royal Alex The- atre to see "I Love Lucy" on stage, October 23. Keep active! Stay young!
