K YO C ER A R IS E On Friday, September 27, there is a special treat coming to the John Elliott Theatre for area music lovers. Entitled "Dale Wood & Friends", the 8 p.m. concert will feature the talents of local music director, A. Dale Wood. While most people are used to seeing Wood at the helm of the Georgetown Children's Chorus, the Georgetown Cho- ral Society or behind the baton at Globe Productions' musi- cals, few have had a chance to hear him performing solo on a grand piano. Now you can! Wood's musical friends Haydn Evans and Josh Lim will also "tickle the ivories". Both are accomplished pia- nists and Lim, at age 17, repre- sents the thousands of young people in this community who have benefitted from Wood's leadership. Well-known local vocalists Mark Llewellyn, Lois Fraser, daughter Joanna Fraser, Lisa Jackson and Jordan May will treat all to a variety of songs. Many of the performers have been taught by Wood over his 38 years teaching vocal, piano and organ in Georgetown. Lim and Joanna Fraser are both longtime members/ alumni of the Georgetown Children's Chorus and both are pursuing professional ca- reers in music. Llewellyn, May and Lois Fraser have been directed by Wood at Globe Productions. Jackson, Lim and Lois Fraser are all members of the Georgetown Choral Society. The concert will reflect music of all types...Classical, Broadway, Ragtime and Jazz. Tickets are $25 (reserved seating, so book early) and are available by calling 905-877- 3700 or online at www.halton- hills.ca/theatre. Proceeds from the evening will support new lighting and sound equipment for the John Elliott Theatre. 'Special treat' Dale Wood & Friends concert to aid JET reno A. DAlE WooD
