For more photos visit www. theifp.ca/photos/ Photo by Andrea Lefebvre 'Desperate' parents upset about condition of Holy Cross School Mice, cold temperatures and insufficient space were concerns raised by some area parents who are pushing for a new Holy Cross Elementary School at a recent Halton Catholic District School Board (HCDSB) meeting in Georgetown. The meeting, which drew about 20 people, was held at the Maple Ave. school Tuesday (Sept. 17) in- stead of the Board office in Burlington due to the HCDSB's priority for parent and community engagement. Meetings have already been held in Milton and Oakville as well. At the meeting, parent Karen Power, who inquired about steps that could be taken to move for- ward to getting a new school, said, "we have mice running around in our basement classrooms" and the students have to wear layers be- cause it's too cold there, but when they come upstairs they have to re- move them because it's so warm. "Kids are quite often very sick throughout the winter," said Power. "Between rodents, ants and temperatures, we're desperate." Giacomo Corbacio, HCDSB Superintendent Fa- cility Management Services, said the rodent issue is an ongoing one at all schools and the Board is trying "to mitigate that as best we can."
