It's recently been found that food allergies may trigger ear infections, which left untreated can cause hearing loss. The allergies create mucous congestion in the nose, which then flows into the tube connecting the nose to the ears. Eventually the tube gets blocked and infection causing bacteria grow. To determine if food allergies are causing your child's ear infection have him/her tested. Once the troublesome food is discovered your physician can suggest alternatives. And take heart, kids often outgrow food allergies - and their tendency towards ear infections. Happy 50th Wedding Anniversary Fred and Madeleine Marks Love, Your Family XOXO Happy 50th Wedding Anniversary Fred and Madeleine Marks Love, Your Family XOXO OCTOBER 12, 1963 On behalf of my sisters Susan, Mary, Ann and our mother Ruth we would like to express our appreciation to the Georgetown Hockey Heritage Council for honouring our father Jack Gudgeon Sr. In the past, like many of you who knew him, we were a little disappointed by Dad's reluctance to agree to any kind of formal recognition of his contributions to minor hockey in Georgetown. He preferred a behind -the-scenes approach to his volunteer work. However, now that he has passed we are pleased that the Council has given us the opportunity to accept, on his behalf, a more permanent record of his accomplishments. His name on the Ezeard Plaque will be an enduring reminder to us all that Jack Gudgeon Sr. had a signicant effect on the growth of minor hockey in Georgetown. On behalf of my family, thank you for a wonderful and memorable evening. Police say about a teenage resident of the home was in her room and heard a knock on the door. Thinking it was a salesper- son, she ignored it, then a few minutes later heard a drawer open in the house, and assumed it was a family member. She was under the covers when she heard someone tak- ing steps into her room. The male intruder saw her, said "Sorry," and fled through the front door. Police responded, but the man wasn't found. He is described as white, 30 to 40 years old, very tall, with dark brown or black short, spiked hair and was wearing brown work boots, jeans and a shirt with long sleeves. He was carrying a white plastic bag. Approximately $600 worth of jewelry was taken from the home. Det. Dave Costantini urges area residents to call police if they see any suspicious people or vehicles in their area, includ- ing canvassers who come to their door. Anyone with information about the break-in is asked to call Costantini at 905-878-5511 ext. 2455 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). See ACTON, pg. 12
