HOLIDAY BONUS CASH $500 INCLUDeS ecObOOst They're decking the halls with balls of volley at a couple of Georgetown Catholic elementary schools this week thanks to the generosity of a 'Secret Santa'. Students at St. Francis of Assisi and St. Catherine of Alexandria discovered 30 red, white and blue balls in each of the schools' playgrounds one morning with 'Merry Christmas' written in red marker on every one of them. St. Francis of Assisi Elementary School principal Kit Laforet said she was "awe- struck" and so were the students who found the volleyballs. There has been plenty of speculation in both schools about who the mystery giver could be, but their identity has yet to be un- covered. She said the volleyballs were very wel- comed because the school always needs fi- nancial support. Laforet said they plan to give one volley- ball to each classroom and the rest will be used by the students in gym classes. "We're going to pay it forward. We will be doing something nice for another school," said LaForet. "We are very blessed to be in such a giving community that knows of a need and responds to it so generously." Louise Neely, an educational assistant at the school, said not only did they receive the gift of 30 new volleyballs, but the generous act also filled the school with more Christ- mas spirit than normal. Daniela Campbell, principal at St. Cath- erine of Alexandria, was also very apprecia- tive of the gift by the mystery person(s). "We are deeply grateful for the anony- mous generosity of the beautiful angels who provided our students with such a wonder- ful gift. We would like to say thank you." The festive spirit at St. Francis of Assisi El- ementary School was cranked up a notch when students found about 30 volley- balls in the playground as they arrived at school one day last week.
