It is owned and operated by Halton Health Care. It has been providing emergency response services with help at the touch of a button for 20 years. It is for people that have dementia, arthritis, stroke, heart problems, diabetes or COPD. It is monitored 24 hours, and gives peace of mind to both the wearer and their loved ones. Manager of Rec- reation Samantha Kleinschmidt and Centre president Bev Jones chaired the meeting and intro- duced Mayor Rick Bonnette who talked about the alternatives that had been looked into, including Buy/Lease/Partnership initia- tives. He mentioned that in Sep- tember when the three options were brought before the board, the board felt strongly that the best option for Acton would be to remain in their present loca- tion, install removable divid- ers in the Community Hall, and changing the existing space to make it suitable for their needs. Mayor Rick mentioned there was no money in the foreseeable future for any major building ex- pansions as the Town had made commitments to twinning the Georgetown and Acton Arenas, the expansion of the George- town Library and the George- town Hospital. Conceptual design plans were on display and architect Marina Huissoon with Green Propeller Design explained the proposed plans to members. There was a question and answer session. The conceptual design and a book for comments will be displayed at the Cen- tre for two weeks for members' comments and suggestions. You can also pick up a copy of the design by the input book. Mayor Rick said there was $500,000 in the 2013 and 2014 budgets for the expansions of the Acton and Georgetown Centres and there would be future discus- sion at the next council meeting.
