On Saturday, April 20, Halton Region will hold the fi rst of seven Special Waste Drop-off Days, inviting residents to safely recycle and dispose of household hazardous waste and electronic waste items. The fi rst event will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Halton Regional Centre located at 1151 Bronte Road in Oakville. In 2012, 128 tonnes of electronic waste and 108 tonnes of household hazardous waste were dropped off at Halton's Special Waste Drop-off Days. Additional Special Waste Drop-off Days, open to Halton residents only, will also take place on: • Saturday, April 27-- Robert C. Aus- tin Operations Centre, 11620 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown (8 a.m. to 2 p.m.), as part of the Town of Halton Hills' Earth Day event • Saturday, June 15-- Burlington Closed Landfi ll, 291 North Service Road, Burlington (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) • Saturday, June 22-- Acton Public Works Yard, 1 Commerce Crescent, Ac- ton (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) • Saturday, August 24-- Burlington Closed Landfi ll, 291 North Service Road, Burlington (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) • Saturday, September 28-- Sheridan College, 1430 Trafalgar Road, Oakville (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) • Saturday, October 26-- Mohawk Racetrack (Parking Lot), 9430 Guelph Line, Campbellville (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) Acceptable items for drop-off include pesticides, paint, motor oil, antifreeze, propane tanks, computers, stereos, TVs, DVD players and VCRs. Residents may drop off these items free of charge. No commercial wastes will be accepted.
