"First of all, it was the wonderful friendliness that struck us, and so we decided to choose a suite and move in. We've been happy we made the choice! The variety of social activities has been more than we anticipated and is simply beyond all expectations. The food is so good you'd think we might gain weight, but actually it's a far more balanced and nutritious diet than we've been eating. We're just very, very happy - should have moved here a year ago!" The Bach Chorale invites you to an all-Bach Concert. This concert will be presented on Sunday, April 28, at 3 p.m. in the beautiful setting of St. Elias Church, 10193 Heritage Road, Bramp- ton. Over his lifetime, Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) composed weekly cantatas, fulfi lling his Music Director's duties at the Thomas Kirke in Leipzig. From a collection of over 400 canta- tas, over half have disappeared from the known repertoire. Bach often em- ployed his family to assist in scribing the music, and many of his descendants became important Baroque composers in their own right. Largely written in the period 1723 to 1727 these works feature a series of cantatas, beautiful choruses and sublime instrumental selections. In addition to the very moving choruses for this concert, exciting solos will be performed by sopranos Celine Moore and Jane Potovszky, contralto Pamela Gibson and bass Bob Knight. With a larger than usual (for the Chorale) ensemble, again using period instruments such as Baroque wood- winds and strings, the lavish scoring of many of the pieces in this concert are sure to please the audience. Inter- nationally known Emma Elkinson will be featured playing the Baroque fl ute. In true Baroque style, Ron Greidanus will direct once again from the harp- sichord. Join us to celebrate spring and en- joy these tremendous works of Bach in the Chorale's fi nal performance of this year's program-- surrounded by the traditional icons and architecture of the Ukrainian Church. Tickets are on sale at Foodstuffs and Pat's Meats in Georgetown, and at the Holland Shop in Acton, or online at www.georgetownbachchorale.com Georgetown Bach Chorale to present music from the Great Passions/Cantatas St. Elias Ukrainian Church on Heritage Rd.
